Walking in the mountains brings you in contact with the beautiful fauna and flora unique to the mountains of austria. The hills surrounding the lake villages are superb for the casual walkers. For the more serious walkers we have the Schafberg mountain in St. Wolfgang and the Zwölferhorn in St. Gilgen. Both peaks can be reached by cog railway on the Schafberg and cable car in St. gilgen. Paths for walking down are all signposted.

Just a short ride by local bus is the postalm. Used in winter for skiing, boarding and snowshoe walking in the summer it transforms into the 2nd largest plateau in central europe. Signposted Paths take you all over this beautiful area allowing you wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and allowing you delight in the flowers growing wild over this amazing plateau.
