How to Get to the Area of the Salzkammergut - Lake Wolfgangsee

Easy Arrival by Aircraft, Car and Train

Arriving in austria by car, train, or flying getting to St. Wolfgang is very easy if you are on a self drive holiday.

Travelling to St. Wolfgang by car

From the direction Munich to St. Wolfgang take the A8 towards Salzburg. After crossing the boarder from Germany into Austria head west on the A1 towards Linz. Follow the signs for Linz and Wien until you reach the exit for Thalgau (about 10 klms). Follow the signs to Lake Wolfgangsee. At the roundabout in the village of Hof turn left on the B158 still heading towards Wolfgangsee. Continue on this road through Hof, Fuschl and St. Gilgen. At the village of Strobl take the right exit and follow the sign to St. Wolfgang. The village is then 7 klms from that junction.

From the direction Vienna (Wien) follow the A1 towards Linz/Salzburg. At the junction for Regau leave the motorway. Follow this road through Gmunden and Altmünster. On your left will be the lovely lake Traunsee. Continue on this road past Traunkirchen , Ebensee and Bad Ischl. At the junction for Strobl exit right and St. Wolfgang is 7 kms.

Travelling to St. Wolfgang by train

On arriving at Salzburg station you can transfer to a local train that will take you onto Bad Ischl. Atlternatively you can Pre-book a transfer through Pro Travel to meet you at Salzburg station. Arriving at Bad Ischl you can then take the local bus to St. Wolfgang or Pre-book a transfer from Pro Travel.

Travelling to Austria by plane
